With her experience as a legal administrative assistant, hockey mom, and great outdoorswoman, there’s not much the multi-talented Meghan Williams can’t do.

Her new role as a Kalon First Impressions lead proves no exception.

Meghan joined the Kalon Alexandria team in March, and we’re so happy she’s here. As the First Impressions lead, Meghan will oversee the retail boutique, handle scheduling, and help patients select products.

With an eagerness to learn all things skin care and lasers, we think she fits in quite nicely. She even shares our love for the Alexandria community. Meghan has spent most of her life in the area, and she graduated from Alexandria Technical College with her degree in legal administration and office management. However, her love for making people feel better and age gracefully led her to make the switch to a career in skin care at Kalon.

“I’ve had an interest in aesthetics for a very long time. Makeup initially intrigued me because it allowed me to change my style, but I found healthy skin to be the key to looking and feeling your best,” Meghan said.

As a part of Kalon, Meghan hopes to help patients feel confident and comfortable in their skin. After struggling to find the right products and routine for her sensitive skin, she came to understand the importance of quality skin care. Now, she’ll have the opportunity to do the same for others.

Her current Kalon favorites include ZO’s Growth Factor Serum and botox, and she’s looking forward to trying the MOXI laser for those sun-kissed spots.

You can find Meghan at the spa most days or at the rink with her son who plays hockey and her daughter who figure skates. She also enjoys reading a good fantasy book and spending time at the lake with her family.

“I have loved my time at Kalon so far, and I’m so excited to dive further into the world of skin care. Kalon will be the best fit for me for a long time to come,” Meghan said.

Next time you call Kalon or swing by the spa, introduce yourself to Meghan and say hello. She can’t wait to meet you all!

Being a specialist in oculoplastic surgery and treatments made Dr. Deborah Gess Ristvedt a natural fit to lead Kalon Medical Spa, a new offering from Vance Thompson Vision in Alexandria.

Dr. Ristvedt’s skills also extend to cataract surgery and glaucoma treatment but, in the case of Kalon, she’ll focus on the area around the eye instead of on the eye itself. For those unfamiliar, that’s what oculoplastics is: treating the area around the eye — most often the eyelids — to improve vision and overall appearance. Oculoplastic and laser facial treatments go hand-in-hand with the vision correction procedures offered by Vance Thompson Vision.

Dr. Ristvedt has been honing her oculoplastic skill for several years. “Oculoplastics and laser facial treatments is an amazing, growing field in terms of new offerings and technology. I’m excited to be a part of it and truly look forward to being able to share the excitement with patients in Alexandria,” she said.

Since opening earlier this year, Kalon-Alexandria has experienced a strong reception from the community.

“We knew from talking with our Vance Thompson Vision patients that Kalon would be well received, but we didn’t realize how well!”

“We knew from talking with our Vance Thompson Vision patients that Kalon would be well received, but we didn’t realize how well!” Dr. Ristvedt said. “Our schedule is filling faster than we could have imagined. It’s been a very encouraging start.”

A third-generation, board-certified eye surgeon, Dr. Ristvedt’s Alexandria roots run deep. She grew up knowing she’d follow in the footsteps of her dad, Timothy Gess, and grandfather, Lowell Gess, both ophthalmologists who continue to serve the area. Her desire to assist those less fortunate is also a family affair — she, her father, grandfather, and husband are all actively involved in Central Global Vision Fund, a charitable organization the family established to provide eye care in underdeveloped countries.

Debby resides in Alexandria with her husband and their three children.
